in the back of the book are sample characters on very nice and nifty character sheets... but there are currently NO clean blank copies of said character sheets... any chance we can get those added so we can print them off and what not? that would be great!

I think that's a wonderful idea. It will take a little bit, but let me see what I can do to put those together.

There seems to be a number of errors on the Hot Rod class. The class features table show that they're supposed to get Inspire Competence (5 ranks of it), but it isn't listed for any level on the class table. When are they supposed to get those ranks?

Also, the class features table shows Inspire Greatness with a point cost of 1 + 1 per rank (for a total of five), but on page 73, it shows the cost as 3 points per rank. Which one is correct? For that matter, Inspire Greatness doesn't actually say what it does when you buy more than 1 rank.

Sorry, not at this time, but we may add something like it in the future if there is enough support to warrant it.

I have a question as their is slight confusion.
A GM wants to try this but we are unsure how multiclassing works. Do we pay the extra 20 points per class or is that only on your first class?

The 20 points is only paid at character level 1st. After that, it is only 14, regardless of class. This keeps it easy to use without throwing balance out in the long run, since each class ultimately costs the same points by 20 anyway. There are corner cases where a multi class combination may end up worth more or less points if you add individual abilities up, but that is where the initial 20 points kinda smooths it out since you start at a deficit.

Hope that helps :)

I had a question about the Armored Coat in the modern armor section.

Since it is technically a coat could it be worn over other light or medium sets to combine with them or is it only wearable by itself?

It can be worn over other stuff, but armor bonuses don’t stack so it won’t necessarily help there. It would still grant the skill bonus though.

What about PC races that state "Can't Wear Armor?"

Could this be listed as an exception?

It's still technically armor. I would say you could wear it cosmetically, but that would be a GM call.

We have updated Play Manga d20 to include a total of 128 pages as we go to print. Here's what you'll find in this update.

* Cleaned up rules text in several places to make it clearer without changing how it should work between the last version and this one.

* Wizard schools and the arcane student archetype (no more CRB references). Updated page numbers throughout the book to account for this.

* Character creation example that leads up to one of the pregenerated characters at the end of the book.

* Modern armor and armor upgrades (with table).

* New modern weapons and a table for them.

* Moved weapons upgrades after weapons and vehicle upgrades after vehicles.

* Pregenerated characters at levels 2 and 6.

Hello! I really like this, and I'm thinking about using it, but do you have any suggestions for running a game like this? Character creation is neat, but combat, monsters, and adventuring is important too. Should I just use the standard Pathfinder rules?

In general, yes you can absolutely use regular pathfinder monsters and npcs. Everything is balanced with Pathfinder in mind. You can also construct enemies using the point system. 48 points = CR 1, and plus 14 points per CR thereafter.

I had this question come up a few times, so I wanted to post here related to it. (For reference, you can always ask me questions directly here, on Facebook, or through the other various buying channels. I'm always happy to help or "talk shop" with fellow designers, however experienced they may be.)

Is Play Manga d20 a direct translation of BESM d20 for Pathfinder 1e?
Answer: No. It takes the ideas and concepts introduced in BESM and presents them in its own way. Things like getting discretionary points because you gained a level felt, at least to me, like a bit of a cop-out, so we addressed that by giving every class its own identity (which is then expanded on with archetypes, a'la Pathfinder).

* If you want free points to spend each level, just spend points. There is customization built into classes via traits and attributes like customization, but you aren't going to just get 5 points for taking 1 level of adventurer.

*If you want a nice packet from which...See more

Damage reduction is covered on page 61 for point-based characters. A chemical slime gets its own version, which is 0 points because it's part of their amorphous trait.

Permanent is a defect on page 91, applied to the giant robot's armor (medium) at 1st level and (heavy) at 3rd.

Hope that helps.

Good morning all,
I wanted to post to say thank you so much to everybody for the valuable feedback we have received on this product thus far both here and on other mediums. We do have an update that will address the points brought up below this post that will be pushed out shortly for those who already purchased it and included in the print version.

To answer one in particular, we didn't reiterate rules for building races as they were presented in the Advanced Race Guide, but we did use those rules to balance races prior to constructing classes and the rest of the point-based system. We used those rules as the baseline for values of other attributes, and adjusted up or down depending on the worth of the individual attribute and the level at which it could become available to a character (whether point-based or race/class).

The update will explain this more clearly so you don't have to reference this post going forward.

i am just wondering how the races are calculated as when i tried to stat out human it was 1 point shy of costing 9 points also the * says something about ability score bonus but what page do we find the cost for this so we can see how the races are built in the table with the races? since if we use what is there then all calculations are wrong. but what has been ponied out if it's part of a race/class things are cheaper but when taking a cursory glace at the pdf and using the search function me and my one friend can't find anything. any clarification would be great. also page numbers to make it faster.

So I have it now. Could use another editing pass. Ex: Raibyo Catfolk have immunity to sonic AND electrical resistance 5, but the ability says all that only costs 4 points when later the section on Resistance says immunity costs at least 6 points.

Sonic damage is included as an option for resistance if somebody wants to spend points to buy it, or they can be a raibyo and have immunity plus resistance to electricity for only 4 points as part of that packet. It's not wrong, it's just a different way to achieve the same goal.

To break it down further: Immunity to sonic effects (like bardic music) are technically a minor immunity. Plus 1 point for resistance +1 for the option to turn it off if your ally happens to have a beneficial sonic effect.

The consistency is found between options. If you build another race that has storm resistance (or a class that gains it as part of its leveling process), it's going to cost 4 points. If you build a point-based character who has immunity to sonic damage and resistance to electricity, it would cost 7.

There are going to be several examples of this. Point-based characters pay more for their options because they don't get a bulk discount like races and classes. It's explained in several...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
