Welcome to the Carcosa Carnival.

We’re so happy that you’ve come to play with us. We’re going to have some good, funny times...

A group of post-apocalyptic survivors seek supplies and their missing friends in an abandoned carnival. Once inside, the Investigators find themselves unable to leave. Their only chance for escape is to interact with the Carnival’s malicious, cruel and treacherous attractions in order to receive tickets to redeem upon exit.

Unfortunately, this Carnival is sentient, and it serves as an insanity inducing playground for an “unspeakable” Mythos deity.

This modern day (post-apocalyptic) Call of Cthulhu scenario includes easy to follow rules to allow playtimes of 2, 4, 6, or 8 hours.

Content Warnings: This game is intended for mature audiences only. Body Horror, Gore, Potential Harm to Animals and Children, Mutilation, Grief, Violence, Suicide, Drowning, and Drug Use.

Content is recommended for modification at Keeper and player discretion.

What’s Included?

- A 46-page fully illustrated and deadly scenario (extensively playtested)

- 6 pre-generated characters and backgrounds

- 2 custom audio handouts and YouTube suggestions for creepy carnival music

- 2 new never-before-seen Mythos creatures

- 21 handouts (including a map of the Carnival, character secrets, monster illustrations, etc.)

This was a fantastic journey of a game. The 'feels' from this scenario made the decision to buy seem totally worthwhile. I have NEVER played a game so tied to the psychology of its characters and the emotional journey this brings. It w [...]

Reviewing as a Keeper who has not run this adventure with players Carousel of Fears is a very slick and well presented adventure, with an incredible level of polish. It is VERY dark, but clearly outlines adaptations for content, group size and [...]

I ran this scenario last night, and it was a total success. My players liked the pregens and roleplayed them very well. The scenario is one of the best written and organized I have ever run for Call of Cthulhu. It's a very customizable scenario with [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
