I've realized I'm not in this for the money.  I'm thankful I still have a job during this crazy pandemic and just want people to enjoy my products at their table so I've lowered this product to a PWYW title.  Please download and enjoy!

Finding a Shelter in the Post-Apocalyptic Storm

The Encounter Building Post-Apocalypse Enclaves deck gives you 50 ready made enclaves to use with your favorite game system.  (May I recommend Red Markets?  That's not an affiliate link!  It's just a great game!)  Whatever your choice of game system, this card deck will give you a multitude of options for enclaves that your players can interact with and maybe even call home.

This decks assumes a near-future setting with computers, guns, etc.  I also had zombies in mind as a threat for these enclaves, but they are never referenced specifically in the cards so that you can use the enclaves in a wider variety of settings.

On each card you'll find:

  1. The enclave name
  2. The location and four identifying characteristics about that location
  3. The leader of the enclave and four traits including a character flaw (weakness) and an area that they have a soft spot for.
  4. How the enclave operates including the type of economy the enclave runs on (barter, hyper-capitalism, calling in favors, collective, etc.), their government structure (dictator, council, benevolent leader, etc.), a phrase that gives a broad generalization of the culture or mindset of the enclave (like "Trust no one" or "You gotta give to get"), and what form of punishment the enclave uses on their citizens (banishment, isolation, dangerous jobs, etc.).
  5. Four things that the enclave needs on a regular basis.
  6. Four larger items that the enclave could be tempted by in their greed.
  7. Four additional NPC codenames and their role within the enclave.
  8. Enclave stats for the offensive and defensive capabilities, how many resources they have on hand, and how aggressive they are.

If you like this set, please let me know.  I have the skeletal outline of the next 50 enclaves that I'd like to do, and I have outlines for jobs that you could pull out in a post-apocalyptic world to help your enclave survive.

What You Get

If you order the Multiple File Format version, you'll get a Print N' Play PDF with 8 cards per page, the individual image files for each card at 300 dpi, and the rulebook.  You can download the rulebook separately here.

If you order the Physical Cards version, you'll get the 50 cards printed, but it does not have its own tuckbox.  I recommend selecting the plastic box that DriveThru offers.  I'd also recommend to get the physical cards AND the digital stuff since it doesn't cost any more money.  Enjoy the apocalypse!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
