INFINITY RPG FREE Quickstart with Circular File Adventure

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This Quickstart gives you an introduction to the 2d20 system, a short adventure ("Circular File"), four pregenerated characters, and an overview of the Infinity universe.

The Infinity universe was launched by Corvus Belli as a hugely popular tabletop skirmish game in which sci-fi themed miniatures simulated futuristic battles across the alien battlefronts of Paradiso and the internecine conflicts of the Human Sphere. Before there was a skirmish game, though, there was a roleplaying game: Infinity started life as a homemade RPG setting for the early roleplaying adventures of Corvus Belli founders Alberto, Carlos, Fernando, and Gutier.

WHAT IS INFINITY?

In the twisted jungles of Paradiso, humanity fights for its survival. The fierce, alien warriors of the Combined Army have poured through the Acheron Gate, descending upon the emerald jungles of the newest colonial world in a seemingly unstoppable torrent. The bestial Morat pound the Paradiso Front, where brave men and women fight ceaselessly to maintain a desperate defensive line which the sly Shasvastii penetrate with devastating ease. In the star-swept skies above, the collected might of humanity’s armadas maintain a life-or-death blockade to cut off an endless horde of alien reinforcements. And if any of humanity’s fractious forces should falter, then all may be lost…

But beyond that terrifying holding action, the intrigues and adventures of the Human Sphere spin on. Space pirates cruise through the shattered planetoids of Human Edge. Scientist adventurers delve the oceans of Varuna. Merchant guilds scheme amidst the scourging sands of Bourak. From Yutang, the Emperor gazes forth from an uneasy throne. Titanic war machines stride across the icy plains of Svalarheima. Byzantine hypercorps struggle for dominance amidst the chrome towers of Neoterra.

For many years, players have tested their mettle upon the battlefields of the Human Sphere in Corvus Belli’s hugely-popular Infinity skirmish game. Now you can expand your adventures, diving deep into the amazing, never-before-seen depths of the Infinity universe with the ultimate science fiction roleplaying game.

Isn't this supposed to have a separate PDF of tiles for the ship maps on pages 27-28. I've seen this quickstart run a few times at a local game shop and the GM had ship tiles for the ship. I asked him about over the weekend and he said Modiphius made a separate PDF of tiles specifically for the quickstart which he printed out.

The Heavy Pistol deals 1+4[CD] damage, so Cassandra’s player takes 4d6 and rolls 4, 1, 6, and 2. The result of 4 is ignored.
The results of 1 and 2 are added together with the base damage of 1 for a total of 4 damage.

pg. 9

Is it 3 damage?

No. The dice total 3 (the 1 and 2 rolled, ignore the rest), but the gun provides a +1 as well (1+4[CD] means that it's 1 damage, plus the roll of 4 combat dice)

The dice total 3 (the 1, 2 and 6 rolled), is it right? 6 makes special effact and adds together with the base damage.

So, each Combat Die is as follows:
1=1
2=2
3, 4, or 5 = 0
6= Effect.

An Effect does nothing by itself unless the attack/weapon/etc has an ability that occurs when an Effect is rolled (Like Vicious 1, which is +1 damage per Effect); if there isn't an ability that applies, the Effect counts as a 0. In the example, there's no ability that triggers on an Effect (it doesn't mention one), so the die that rolled 6 (an Effect) counts as 0.

Any way to add more details concerning how Reloads are replenished? Also, Father Knight and Dog Warrior have weapons with a Burst rating but no Reloads. Was this intentional?

We're fixing this in the revised Quickstart but focusing on getting the core book finished first. Assume a three reloads for now for Father Knight and Dog Warrior. Reloads are replenished if you find a similar weapon - replace one reload, or if they're in a situation where they should be able to replace more (eg finding an armoury, going back to base out when not in turns). They don't replenish without a sensible reason for doing so.

Its a great intro to infinity world lore, a great overview of the ruleset and a nice historical adventure in the setting. Very recommended to know the Infinity Universe! Cheers from CalabozoCriollo Venezuela.

It's still being written. PDFs of chapters are being released to Kickstarter backers now - Character Creation was released earlier this week - but the book isn't yet finished.

I'd recommend changing the CD notation from [CD]n to n[CD], just to make it more obvious that it's 7 (say) CD, not CD*7 or something.

The Quickstart explains what Skill Focus is (bottom of p. 9, top of p. 10) but neglects to mention how it's actually used when making a skill test; in the Mutant Chronicles 2d20 game, the idea is that any d20 which comes up equal to or less than the character's Focus level in the skill being tested grants an additional success.

So if Reverend Moira (pre-gen character on p. 38) needs to make a Vacuum skill test and rolls 2 and 9, she gets three successes; one for each die, since both rolled less than or equal to her TN of 11, plus another one for the roll of 2, since it's equal to her Vacuum skill Focus level of 2. If she'd rolled 1 and 2, she'd get four successes.

It's a bit frustrating to see that this information isn't included in the new Quickstart.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
