The Monument, Protocol One-Sheet

ADD TO WISHLIST >

We lived in peace for centuries. Quietly and without incident. The land of Digir was paradise. Perfect in every way.

But that was before the hordes.

The violent hordes of the Red Empire that came and took the healthiest of us as captives. Farmers. Soldiers. Skilled workers. Anyone. We essentially became slaves. Servants to their great monolithic achievement. There is no escape for us, no return to paradise. We will build their great monument until we die. Each of us must decide for ourselves whether it is more painful to hold on to our memories of what we once were, or to let go of dignity and surrender to fate.

Protocol is a series of story roleplaying games that thrusts characters together into dramatic situations. Each game uses the same set of rules, with vastly different parameters, start points, characters, and finales. Players take on the roles of directors outside the action and characters inside the action, using the ebb and flow of four different scene-framing styles (vignettes, interrogations, interludes, and ensembles) to tell meaningful stories about characters in crisis.

Each game in the Protocol series is zero-prep for 3 or more players. The game length is exponentially long, so games with more players take more time to complete. The Protocol Series requires a deck of poker cards as well as tokens to track drama points.

The Protocol One-Sheet Series do not include rules, only charts. Each game requires players to own at least one game in the Protocol series, or the Protocol Primer.

All Protocol Games are 100% GMless, require almost no preperation time, and use the same game system. There are over 50 games in the series, which means there HAS to be something here for you.

What is, or where can we find, this "Protocol Prime" which is referenced on all of these one-sheet products?

Ah, so the second "r" in "Primer" is just missing from the blurb on each of these One-Sheets. Thanks. I thought there was a product I couldn't find. :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
