POCKET UNIVERSE is a complete compact role-playing game system that won't strain your brain, your muscles, or your wallet.  It's the core rule system of Quicksilver Lite, Teenage Demonslayers, and the upcoming Béthorm.

Starting with a clean, clear, and consistent 2d10 system, Pocket Universe is easily adaptible to any genre, period or setting.  Despite its small size, it delivers credible character-driven social interaction as well as monster bashing fun.  The play is as realistic or fantastic, as light or deep as you want it to be.

Co-created by Jeff Dee (Villains and Vigilantes, T.W.E.R.P.S., WarChest) and the mononymous Manda (no last name but also known as Talzhemir Mrr).

Includes:

  • Complete rules for detailed character creation and customization.
  • An extensive list of skills, advantages and disadvantages to quickly and easily build interesting and unique characters for any genre or setting.
  • A realistic but simple combat system designed to allow play to move at an exciting, swift pace.
  • Combat critical tables which add that extra bit of danger and tension to every strike.
  • A customizable creature system designed to allow imaginative GMs the ability to create their own unique monsters and creatures.
  • A Pocket Universe character record sheet in PDF format.
  • Art by ex-TSR and Villains and Vigilantes artist, Jeff Dee.

Amazing game only complaint is the layout. I have found that it is very easy to convert other games to this for a quicker paced game. Also Jeff Dee is easily reached by enail if you have questions. [...]

This system would be more appealing were it 1985, but it's not. It's layout is confusing and it really needs to be edited for clarity. Not bad if you need something quick, but it's nothing I'd use long term. I'm not all into making my own every thing [...]

Decent. Fairly basic, but has enough little 'bits' that it should be easy to customize. [...]

An interesting try at a quick and simple system, but could definitely use a cleaner and more interesting presentation. [...]

A great, simple RPG with plenty of room for expansion and modification. If you're trying to simplify your gaming with an easy-to-use system, give this one a try. My only complaint? No magic system, although a rudimentary one can be found at their web [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
