Hi, and thanks for asking. I love the yuan-ti too. Yes, in terms of yuan-ti, the guide includes a rollable table for customizing your yuan-ti character with unusual pureblood traits/abilities (with DM permission); 4 racial feats for yuan-ti characters; a new Cleric subclass called the Serpent Domain that is for non-yuan-ti characters who are members of a yuan-ti serpent cult; a new Ranger subclass called the Slithering Sentinel Conclave for yuan-ti purebloods who specialize in warding yuan-ti territory or infiltrating other cultures as spies; customization options for warlocks of the Undying who choose Hitottee the Malison Mummy Lord as their patron; customization options for warlocks of the Ascended Hero (a new patron type detailed in the guide) who choose Ssuissata, the Anathema Exarch as their patron; a new variant of the Acolyte background called the Yuan-Ti Temple Variant; monster stat blocks for a yuan-ti cambion, yuan-ti malison skeletons, and yuan-ti sentinel; and an NPC stat block for a serpent priest...See more

Amazing product first and for most, I'm a little confused about the harvesting plants portion of the rules with correlation to creation said poisons Harvesting calls out that you find some toxic plant but does not have value harvested, is this intended? Creating poison has a gold cost, how does this connect with the harvested material? if i wanted to create basic poison common has a gold cost of 50. if said charter just goes out and harvests this does it drop the gold cost, half it , etc. Thank you again for the product , I'm just having a small disconnect.

Hi Patrick,

I'm glad you're enjoying the guide! The guide treats Crafting and Harvesting poisons as two separate things. There's no need to connect the two. In the "Harvesting From the Environment" section, a successful check means you have located and harvested a poisonous plant or plants. You must then roll on the "Potency of Plant Found" table to determine the potency and effect of the plant you've harvested. As set forth below that table, proficiency with various tools such as the herbalism kit, cook's tools, brewer's supplies, poisoner's tools, or alchemist's supplies allows you then to prepare those plants into one of the standard delivery forms (contact, ingested, inhaled, injury). The assumption is that these aren't special named poisons like assassin's blood, basic poison, etc.; they are instead poisons that have been produces solely from a single toxic plant (e.g. nightshade, hemlock, toxic mushrooms, etc).

If you instead want to craft a named type of poison,...See more

Hello, really interesting take on a lot of poison themed player options/rules. I've got a question/potential suggestion regarding the Medusa Born Race presented in the book; is there meant to be a restriction on their Petrifying Gaze Racial ability, because a reaction to potentially abuse this ability every turn. The easiest way to prevent abuse might be to restrict it to a one/day ability maybe?

Kind Regards
James

Hi James! Thanks for checking out the guide and for your kind words about it. When it comes to the medusaborn, I agree with you that its Petrifying Gaze needed to be more restricted than that of a full Medusa, which can use the effect on any number of creatures it wants whenever creatures are within range. By limiting it to a reaction, a medusaborn PC can only attempt to impact one creature in range per turn. And as with a normal full medusa, your target can simply avert its gaze to avoid having to make the save against petrification. In the end, I decided to prioritize flavor and maintain the core medusa trait as something always available rather than limit it to once per day or other limited use. But like you, I also felt there should be something else to balance that a bit, so I added the Frightful First Impression trait as a mutated manifestation of the medusa curse; this trait is beyond the medusaborn's ability to control and could end up causing NPCs to become frightened of you even when you don't want them...See more

Hello, great product. But a small question on the Poison maker background. It mentions the player get 3 Vial of poison but specifies one common and one uncommon. What is the third one or is it supposed to be only two?

Hi Marc, I'm glad you're enjoying the guide, and great catch! Thanks for spotting that typo. For both the poison maker and poison trader background variant, it should say TWO common and one uncommon vials of basic poison under the background equipment. I'll definitely fix that in a soon-to-be-released update that will correct a handful of other typos I've noticed over the past year since the product was released (e.g. one of the sillier typos: the Malignant Ovum eldritch invocation available to warlocks of Kil'lix only produces a 1-inch-diameter egg, not a 10-inch-diameter one! LOL).

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
