100 Rumours to Hear in Pugmire

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Just as they may do so in other settings, players may have their characters ask around in Pugmire for rumours and information, perhaps for an adventure they are currently doing. This supplement provides a list of 100 different rumours they can find, that tell stories about happenings, real or supposed, in and around Pugmire and the surrounding lands.

These rumours may simply provide background colour or possible misinformation, as just because a rumour is told does not mean that it is true. Alternatively, the Guide may use the rumours as a source of adventure hooks that can be fleshed out into actual adventures.

This PDF supports Adobe layers and the page backgrounds and images can be disabled to make printing easier.

Here are some sample results:

  • Houndton is considering declaring independence from Pugmire again, but this time they plan to form a new nation with Waterdog Port. The resources of Houndton and the seagoing capacity of the port will make them far more powerful
  • than Pugmire. The crown may have to use force to stop this.
  • Hunters are wanted for an expedition into the Fearful Forest. A group of dogs plans to go deeper into the forest than usual in order to set up a lumber camp to harvest the older trees only found away from the edges where many of the
  • larger trees have already been chopped down. The hunters will be needed to guard the camp and the lumberjacks.
  • Illiad Siberian, one of the envoys to Pugmire from the Monarchies, is apparently looking to hire some dogs - and rats, badgers and moggies if need be - to go on an expedition for him. Just where this expedition is planning to go is something the cat is keeping very close to his fur.
  • In the Fearful Forest there’s an undiscovered area, a site of Man, that isn’t guarded by anything. Artefacts and plastic are just lying around to be picked up by enterprising paws. Of course, just because the site is not guarded does not mean that it is safe or easy to get to.
  • In the past dogs have claimed to have seen giant ants making labyrinthine underground warrens in the wilderness. Recently, some of the more distant villages and farms have claimed to have discovered giant ants on their lands. It’s uncertain as to whether the ants are colonising new areas willingly or whether something has driven them away from their old nests.

Two pages are the front and rear covers and two pages are the Open Game License.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
