The Convent of The Weeping Moon

A stand-alone Adventure for 4+ characters of APL 4+

A self-contained scenario, that can be easily slotted-in to any campaign, of the appropriate level.
Contains: The Village of Stoneleigh, four levels of dungeon: convent ruins, upper cellars, and catacombs for 52 dungeon locations.

On a misty hill, far from the hustle and bustle of the big cities, lies the blasted ruins of a long-forgotten Convent.
A village living under the shadow of the darkened moon.
An Innkeeper's daughter and her fiancé are missing. The PCs are asked for help.
Have the tentacles of an ancient, long-banished heresy resurfaced, to glide silently through the Convent's moss-covered stones?
... Probably.

INFO FOR THE DM ONLY:

Where to locate The Convent
The ruined Convent is located in a forested area, on an infrequently travelled road, the players stop at the only village for miles around.
The decrepit village used to host pilgrims for the now-ruined Convent, once a place of healing and pilgrimage. A shrine of Umara the Moon Goddess.

The overground convent is now ruins, there is an intact, trapped cellar level below. Below that, a large barracks area, and cathedral-like underground temple.
The opponents are undead, traps, and the insane Clerics of Umara themselves.

Plot and background
Forty years ago, a new Mother Superior turned to the dark side of her Moon-worshipping religion: from Umara to Umara in Darkness,
and slowly the convent changed from healers to a sacrificial Witch-cult.
As the Heresies reached fever pitch, the local lord had the place sacked & burned to the ground.
The Catacomb Complex below the ruins survived however, and 35 years later, it has been reoccupied by the same insane Moon Cult.

Difficulty
The Cultists are organised and will put up merciless resistance. The players better be very careful: stealthy and smart play will be needed. They wanted a challenge, right?

The Players' Goal
Rescue the Innkeepers daughter and her fiancé from the clutches of the crazed moon cultists, before they are sacrificed ... or worse.

SPOILER ALERT
What they don't know:
The inkeeper and his cronies are in league with the cultists, his "daughter" just another traveller they sent up there to be sacrificed, and the adventurers are heading the same way.

44 pages of dark-tinged, Convent-based adventure, with a sting in the tail.
Intended for all 5e-compatible, fantasy role-playing systems, including "the world's most popular RPG".

The Players are travelling far off the well-trodden trade-routes, and in the late afternoon come across the the sleepy village of Stoneleigh. The signs and portents were not good, had they but known.

The Longshadow Inn ... A good place to get a hot meal, and warm bed for the night.
Later, that evening:

Jed: “You gonna tell ‘em then?”

Bran the Inkeeper: “Well I ... er ... Might you fine folks be able
to help me out with a little matter? It’s my daughter
you see, her and her fiancé have disappeared.
They went off two days ago and haven’t been seen since.
We went looking yesterday but there was no sign of
them at all, and I’m worried to death now something’s happened.”

Merin: “We went up there yesterday, found nuthin’
- I reckon they ran off, is all!”

Against the Evil Moon Goddess: Umara in Darkness: twin-sister to the Sun, blasphemy on the face of the blackness.
Just as there is no shadow without light, there is eternally Umara, in Light and Umara in Darkness.
The sickle reaps the bountiful harvest, and the sickle-claw slashes throats at midnight...

Hi Jean-Phillippe,
That's an excellent idea. I will certainly do that - I can send you a dropbox link directly and you can download a zip file, if it's OK to mail me at: blackarts@email.com?
What platform are you using to play online? (I play on Fantasy Grounds myself). Is there any map resolution that is best for you? Would you like the map grids removed?

If you want to wait a day or two, I think I will put the maps online here as well ...

Best Wishes

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
