Future Echoes - a Zgrozy scenario

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This is the English version of the second non-English electrum bestseller on Miskatonic Repository: Zgrozy - Powidoki Przyszłości.

Anastasia Stillman, a well-born criminal, has recently discovered a ritual that allows to glimpse the future. Using this knowledge, she pulls off a spectacular robbery – but she also becomes addicted to echoes of the future. Now she has a new, occult goal and the investigators will be the only ones to stop her…

Future Echoes is a standalone scenario for Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition. By default it takes place anywhere around the world in 1920s but it can easily be adapted to other eras. Inside you’ll find:

  • A complex intrigue happening between the Stillman siblings, their family, police and the investigators.
  • Hooks suitable for characters of various professions and personalities.
  • A new Mythos tome – Memoirs of Times to Come – containing a ritual to gaze into the future.
  • Rules and advice for running the game with future-addicted investigators.

Marek Golonka, author of Future Echoes, is a professional RPG designer with many years of experience in both Polish and English markets. He’s the chairman of Quentin—Poland’s oldest and most important RPG scenario contest—as well as a game design lecturer at universities in Bydgoszcz and Chorzów. Marek’s most important English releases include parts of Tome of Mysteries, a Monster of the Week supplement published by Evil Hat Productions, the Monsters of Europe series for the same system released by GRAmel, and Mésalliance, a nanolarp published in the PRISM anthology.

Future Echoes is the second English release in the Zgrozy line. To find out more visit our Facebook page (/ZgrozyEN). Further releases will follow this autumn. “Zgrozy” is a slightly archaic Polish word for “Horrors” or “Terrors.” Following advice from English-speaking Cthulhu fans, we decided to keep the original title for foreign releases since it sounds suitably unspeakable and blasphemous to non-Polish ears.

By buying Future Echoes, you’ll receive a full-color version of the scenario and a printer-friendly version without graphic elements, both of which come in two different formats to help ensure ease of use and readability across multiple devices. As a bonus you’ll also receive two audio files with the Polish pronunciation of the word "Zgrozy", one of them calm and one slightly terrified.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
