Rio de Janeiro by Myths & Gods

ADD TO WISHLIST >
Suggested Price $3.00

Rio de Janeiro is a city of many wonders, and in a World where all the myths are true, these wonders and problems are even bigger and even more fantastic.

This book aims to serve as a suggestion for a scenario for Scion 2nd Edition. As a fan-made material, however, this is no way a cannon about the World, just one of the possible ways to have a "pre-arranged narrative terrain" already made before your group begins their adventures.

Here you will find:

  • History and Geography of this Mythical Rio. Even that you never visited the city, we will get you around.
  • Themes that can be recurring in the stories of Rio.
  • Special locations that Scions can visit, depending of their interests in Rio.
  • The main regions of the city detailed.
  • Groups and associations of people influent and powerfull around.
  • A special urban legend, particular of Rio de Janeiro.

Be welcome to review our work.

May the Gods guide our ways.

In this new update we have:

- A new cover.
- A map for Rio de Janeiro, divided by neighborhoods and city's zones.
- A new art in the end of the book, based on the local legend of Rio.

Just two main things:

1. I modified the price of the book from PWYW $5 to $3.

2. I would really love some reviews. At this moment, more than 60 people downloaded the book (free or paying for it). It's available in STV at some time (happy one month birthday, Rio!), and I think this is a reasonable time for someone to read and even test this book. There are some things that I plan to change and/or expand in RbG&M. Those could even be present in future versions of the book (I think I can do that in STV). Personally, thinking about it today, my self-avaliation is that: "It talks very fine about the city of Rio. You can see the landscape, the scenario and the main problems around. But they are mortal/everyday problems. I'm lacking yet the 'Mythical Stuff' Scion expects." I would add more Brazilian folklore, sure. But I think it fits better in a book about the entire Brazil as a scenario (I heard there are people woking on that).

Reviews are important because they...See more

OMS (that's "Oh, My Scion", in case you're wondering). I was playing in a Scion campaign at one time that sent our group to Rio. A couple of memories stick out from that trip.

Our nemesis animated the giant statue of Jesus, which kicked our collective butt, and in one of our fights with the bad scions, a member of our party picked up a motor coach and and clobbered an opponent, which inspired a chant around the table, "Hit him with a bus! Hit him with a bus!"

Thanks for stirring up a memory that comes with laughter!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
