Risus: Slimes in Blossom Grove - A Free Pulp-Fantasy Adventure

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The tiny village of Blossom Grove is a pleasant stop along the route through these hills, and normally everything's fine, but ... why are there Slimes everywhere, renting all the rooms, drinking all the ale, stacking on the sheep and letting their Slime Toddlers run loose? And what's a Slime Fountain, anyway??

Slimes in Blossom Grove is a free adventure module for Risus: The Anything RPG about an unusual sort of rescue, an unusual sort of mystery, and a whole lot of Slimes. This adventure takes place in Uresia: Grave of Heaven or the fantasy world of your choice, and it's Raw. Risus Raw: a special kind of fast-track release to help expand the library of fun, free RPG stuff during this difficult time. Here's hoping it finds you well, and safe, and that it provides happiness and distraction.

I'm very pleased with the adventure.
Great job, as always from S. John Ross.
You'll find this adventure a fun and fascinating diversion for your RPG group.

The problems that Nitro PDF has reading the file is a bug in their software, it does open in every other PDF reader and browser I've tried it in.

The file is password protected, it opens ok in computer PDF readers (adobe, evince..) but I can't open it on my ereader to read it in the transports.
As a workaround, I uploaded it on pdfescape, then download it again to make a different copy. The files are not the same size after this manipulation.
Any way, thanks so much to have provide us yet another great adventure from you!

I've been looking forward to this - and I'm surprised it is free.
Both files open in most any internet browser, without problems.

Same password problem as Julio B has posted: I can't open the big PDF as it is password protected in Nitro PRO 7.4 - but but not in other software. I'm not even sure why the security features would force a password check in the reader software?
However, the smaller (4-page) PDF will load in my Nitro PRO 7.4 version, I hope that helps.

Hi! Thank you! Yeah, the problem seems specific to Nitro (though it might extend to others which share Nitro's issue). Slimes in Blossom Grove opens trouble-free in Adobe, X-Change, Foxit, Sumatra, Chrome, etc etc etc. I always test using several PDF readers prior to release, and in response to this report from you and Julio B I've tested some additional ones, and I haven't found any yet that share Nitro's issue with the file. If you're a regular Nitro user, I'd recommend sending them a bug report; I can't find anything wrong with the PDF itself.

Hi! Thank you for this report! I've done some additional testing and the problem seems to be with Nitro specifically (for more detail see my response to Randy A). Thanks for taking the time to kick the tires on it; I appreciate it!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
