Dungeon World Oracle Deck

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Dungeon World Oracle Deck is 54 full-color or black-and-white print-and-play cards used for GM-less Dungeon World games, solo play, or GM inspiration.

Each card has a Person, Thing, Monster (with the page reference to the Dungeon World rulebook and its instinct), two Names, two Traits, an Oracle, an Alignment, a GM Move, and a d6.

Use it to roll 2d6, get a GM Move when needed, build NPCs on the fly, answer "yes" or "no" questions, grab a random monster, inspire you, and more!

Update:

If you haven't printed the cards yet, print "Dungeon World Oracle Deck v1.1" which has all cards up to date.

If you had already printed the cards, print "V1.1 Card Corrections", which corrects typos on 4 cards.

There's a new zip file in the downloads which contains a blank hex map, instructions for using the Oracle Deck to create a hex crawl, rules for solo play using it, an updated Solo Character Creator playmat, and a Faction Creator Worksheet.

This video (https://youtu.be/MevDDv4no0U) demonstrates how I use the Oracle Deck to create a Hex Crawl.

The video preview below is a solo play session within the hex crawl I created in the above video link.

Sad this is no longer in print. I am unable to print this out. I just saw a video about the hexcrawl work sheet. I need a better way of hexcrawling. Guess I'll have to look somewhere else.

Jeff, it's still in the works, but won't be soon. My life is completely different now than it was even a few months ago and I have almost no time in front of a computer. I HOPE to have it by the end of the year (2021), but I just can't promise it.

How goes the plan to get these made by DriveThruCards? I love the concept but dislike the quality of homeprinted cards.

Aris, unfortunately it's going slower than I'd hoped. I upgraded to PhotoShop to make sure I could properly create a CMYK file, but then it OR my computer got an update and it isn't working properly. So I'm still using GIMP until I can figure that out!

I find that printing them in color on regular paper, then laminating them produces a durable card.

Can you make a black & white version, or is there one already? My printer only does b&w.

Hey Brian,
I really like the look of these cards. I am altering them so they have the page numbers for the Monster Manual instead.
I am a 5e guy!
I wondered what font you used as the numbers dont always carry through on the font so they now look weird.
Thank you in advance

Zachary, part of the reason I'm waiting so long to work on that is I want to make sure I've corrected all mistakes found on cards. I've already found typos on cards 15 and 42. I just didn't see them in all the editing passes and I'm sure a couple more will pop up! Also, I'm still editing and play testing "Dungeon World Variant Rules" which use this deck. I'll be updating the files soon to include an updated main file, a Corrected Cards file so anyone that has already printed it can just print the corrected cards, and the DWV Rules. Finally, when I do get around to that stage of the process anyone who purchased this file will get a discount to purchase the cards "at cost of printing" (and shipping, of course), so you'll only be paying for the price of physically printing and shipping the cards with no "profit" markup.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
