This game exists because of a question: As World of Dungeons is to Dungeon World, what would the World of Dungeons equivalent of The Veil be? Rather than playing an old(er) school, rules-light, version of Dungeons & Dragons, the “retro” version of cyberpunk in the roleplaying game space is the game line: Cyberpunk; chiefly Cyberpunk 2020. ‘Punks who rebel against megacorporations rather than delve into dungeons to find treasure. Veil 2020 is my answer.

A few stand out features of Veil 2020:

  • A simple roll procedure that facilitates the player contributing to the stakes and possible consequences of each roll for maximum investment

  • 3 simple, flexible, and wide-ranging classes designed to accommodate familiar cyberpunk character archetypes and brand new concepts

  • A simple economy system that helps incentivize the player characters to hurt the megacoporations.Money gained for hurting the establishment counts toward character experience. Spend your time doing what matters and get rewarded for it!

  • An incredible layout from Lu quade, designed to be evocative of old-school Cyberpunk 2020 combined with modern graphic design and a synthwave/retrowave aesthetic

  • 16 pieces of amazing cyberpunk artwork from talented artists: Sadia Bies, Fabio Comin, and Jonny Gray

For an actual play series of this game being run using the Cyberpunk 2020 adventure Land of the Free, click here (https://youtu.be/cr13_CTDdVM).

Why you made the option "When an Ace has the benefit of the fictional positioning of this
synchronized item and skill set, they roll normally; otherwise
they roll with Disadvantage." instead of rolling with advantage and otherwise rolling normally?

Because the idea is that they are exceptional at one thing, specifically. They can maneuver, with their class slot, to do a lot of damage and accomplish difficult tasks outright - when they are outside of their element they are a fish out of the water to offset it.

Another question: how PUSHERS use their Class Slot? I understood it's an especiality, but in game terms, how can I apply them? Like, ACES can cause double damage or attempt something very hard, but what's the mechanics for Pushers? Thanks again!

Their Class Slot allows them to do their thing. It is not a one-time-per-session consumable mechanic like the Ace. When they do their thing, depending on the difficulty of what they want to do, they either roll dice (if it's something simple or easy) and see what happens next based on the outcome of the roll--or else, if the thing is complex or difficult, the player enters a kind of bargaining with the Referee and may also spend some Harm to do the thing or perhaps meet other requirements that make sense the Referee suggests. Check out the examples on the Pusher page.

Just finished and its very interesting. Loved the simple mechanics and the retro mood, but I have a question: when you make a roll you sum the State Value to the dice numbers and you get one Emotional Spike (and erase the opposite ES), right? And when you have one State with 5 ES your next roll has one disadvantage. The question is: after that, the Emotional Spikes that created tje disadvantage disappear? Or they stay and I have to act with the opposite State to make them disappear? Sorry if my english is a little bit rusty. Salutations from Brazil.

Correct, Correct, after Disadvantage is rolled with, regardless of the outcome of the roll, the emotional spikes are all erased for that emotion (the Spikes in other emotions remain). Your English is perfectly good and understandable, no worries at all, Murillo!

Just checked the rules, the emotion "stats" is bit hard to get at first, like using the sad state for an action. The system is definitely not aimed for new comers to ttrpg as player or GM, but it sounds rather interesting to play angsty punks against the establishment. I ll try get some players and try it out.

I m confused about one thing, the character sheet display "upgrades" boxes and there is no mention (or i havent found it) in the text about those boxe, does an upgrade box is checked once you got an augmentation ?

People have said similar things about The Veil but I have found new tabletop players to find it more intuitive than rolling a skill or check of some kind. Since you're concerned with telling an interesting story together, it arguably makes more sense to focus on the emotion behind the action a character takes. It's a lot more intuitive than people typically think. Obviously that's just my preference and observations from the original game for a few years now, though.

"Upgrades" is a continuation of armor, yeah. So you can purchase augmentations that extend those boxes into the upgrades category, like armor under the skin, etc.

I completely get the building a story together part. And for the emotion, it makes a lot of sens for fighting the establishment, in a way, it s most punk rules light/minimalist game i have in my collection. I would certainly use Veil 2020 for a fight the power campaign (with teen characters like in Cybergeneration)

oh i should have realized it s on the same line as armor... Thanks a lot !

No problem. I tried to make it as intuitive as possible but I'm no graphic designer.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
