"The car has become an article of dress
without which we feel uncertain, unclad, and incomplete
in the urban compound."

- Marshall McLuhan

Divine Garage is a book of vehicles for Scion Second Edition. While Scion takes a minimalist approach to use vehicles as an effect rather than physical objects, this book introduces vehicles as their own characters using the mechanics already established for antagonists. It explores such what-ifs as passengers fighting while a car if rushing through traffic in a high-speed chase, sinking ships, and airplanes crashing nose-first into the ground below.

Divine Garage is a book about high-speed action and punching tanks. It is meant to introduce sets of optional rules, such as crashing, sinking, and falling, and provides a starting point for you to introduce vehicles as threats or tools in your games. Note that the material in this book is meant to be entirely optional and as of yet, has not been fully tested in a game.

The main text of the book uses the font OpenDyslexic, which is designed with dyslexia in mind. The font is also bigger with decent spacing to make it easier to read. Feel free to leave comments about suggested improvements.

This book includes 5 chapters as well as an appendix.

  • Chapter 1: Introduction includes the introduction (obviously) and some optional rules that can apply to all types of vehicles, as well as new Qualities and Flairs that are fitting to vehicles.
  • Chapter 2: Land Vehicles has a list of some standard vehicles found on land, from bicycles to commercial trains, as well as some optional rules that apply specifically to vehicles on land.
  • Chapter 3: Water Vehicles lists some base vehicles that traverse the waters and includes special rules for scenes that take place at sea.
  • Chapter 4: Air Vehicles has vehicles that fly in the air, discusses issues with flight, and has some optional rules on action scenes at high altitudes, such as falling.
  • Chapter 5: Relic Vehicles has six sample vehicles made by divine characters, including the morbid Naglfar of Norse legends and the Bicycle of Destiny (of no legend). It also discusses some issues with creating new Relics from the vehicles found in this book.
  • Appendix: List of Vehicles lists all the vehicles found in this book without descriptions. The appendix can also be downloaded as a separate file.

This is my second entry into the StoryPath Nexus Program, and more are being planned.

Compatible with Scion Second Edition. Requires the use of Scion: Origin and Scion: Hero from the Onyx Path Publishing.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
