Following the Tracks

ADD TO WISHLIST >

A wilderness adventure compatible with the first edition of Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, designed for a group of four 5th-level adventurers. Whether you want to run an adventure where druid and ranger characters feel at home, or challenge a party of city slickers, Following the Tracks will allow the party to explore the savannah in a wholesome adventure. The module provides a branching point, where the adventurers will have to make a decision which will lead them to widely different paths. It also includes alternative hooks to suit different play styles!

A caravan was attacked, and their valuable magical beasts were stolen. The caravan owners hire the adventurers to find their stolen cargo and bring them back safely. But once the heroes find the bandits, they may discover that they are not really just "thieves". Depending on their decision, they may end up travelling to the fey world or battling the bandits for the creatures.

  • New creatures: 1 magical beast, 2 animals, 1 vermin swarm, and both a new animal companion and a new familiar option.
  • New NPCs: two groups of NPCs with full stat-blocks and backgrounds.
    • Six catfolks, two vanaras, and one halfling.
  • New items: a couple of poisons, a herb, a trap.
  • Drop into any existing campaign with an African-inspired savannah.
  • A bookmarked table of contents and an intuitive layout.
  • A random encounter table that is not just about combat.

Content Warning: Animal Trading

Lilipotamuses, the magical beast in the cover, are fantastical creatures inspired, unsurprisingly, by hippopotamuses. To honour these awesome animals, I’ll be donating 10% of the sales of this module to an organization that works with hippos in their natural environment. Hippos are at risk of extinction, and in these situations, every little bit helps. At the moment, the donation is planned for Wechiau Community Hippo Sanctuary, in Ghana.

A cream coloured cover of Monster Hunts Weekly. It has a bright pop up that says A black cover with golden letters of the Outrageous Owlbears product. There is a turkey-bear hybrid drawn on the cover, also on gold. A green cover. There is the drawing of a cooking pot with a ladle on it.

I really like how open this adventure is. There are a number of contingencies, based on the players actions. Who the players decide to ally themselves with will drastically change the direction in which the adventure is concluded. There is a lot to exp [...]

The mission is deceptively simple: find and return the absolutely adorable escaped lilipotamuses, but all isn’t quite as it seems. Will your players heart’s melt for these flowered hippos? Or will the impressive rewards on offer tempt them into mor [...]

As a fan of Pathfinder 1e ('tho I haven't come back to it for more than a year now), I find it nice to see this adventure released. Following the track feels like a safari, an exploration into an intriguing and unique world. Exploring the wor [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
