100 Hooks and Rumours to Hear in Ghelspad

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Characters may hear various rumours and snippets of information when asking around, and this supplement has 100 such for them to discover. Whether or not any particular rumour is true or false is up to the GameMaster. These rumours can be used as background colour, misdirection and as potential adventure hooks. The rumours come from the continent of Ghelspad and are primarily related to the following nations and areas in them: Albadia, Ankila, Calastia, Darakeene, Drifting Isle, Dunahnae, Durrover, Fangsfall Peninsula, Gleaming Valley, Heteronomy of Virduk and Karria.

This PDF supports Adobe layers and the page backgrounds and images can be disabled to make printing easier.

Here are some sample results:

  • In Valthas Wood in Albadia is a tribe of centaurs that worship Belsameth the Slayer. Though these centaurs have until now not proven to be a problem, there's a rumour that they have started hunting down others who travel the woods to sacrifice to the dark goddess. If true, it could be that those who regularly use the woods may seek to eradicate the centaurs once and for all.
  • Karria is an excellent wine country, with a large number of grapes, fruits and berries growing. The wines produced by Karria are a notable export, but recently there have been rumours of blight affecting some regions. This blight is said to be affecting different types of the things grown to make wine, which is unusual. Some suspect the blight may be magical in origin.
  • King Mharnev is the ruler of the city of Horat in Albadia and, so far, the king has been loyal to High King Thalos and his ability to build the nation, even though his tribe's Helliann have told Mharnev that Thalos may have betrayed the soul of Albadia. There's a rumour that Mharnev may soon be tipped over to the side of the Helliann and against the High King.
  • Lake Vashon in Calastia is a popular place for nobles of Vashon and Aovnir in Lageni to take their leisure on large barges where floating parties and festivals are held. There are rumours that the lake has grown a little less pleasant recently, as it's said that a number of people have disappeared beneath the surface. Some nobles are concerned that monsters may have moved into the lake and are looking for people to drive any such out.
  • Lord Gasslander of Wexland in Darakeene has turned worship in his province to a god known simply as That Which Abides. Though Darakeene has no official religion, for one province to dedicate all its temples to a single god, and one who is unknown at that, is odd and disruptive. There are rumours that Gasslander has been sending out missionaries promoting the faith of That Which Abides to other provinces, and even other countries, and some are wondering just who the nameless god might be and what there aims are.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
