Service Rifles of Europe and North America

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This Twilight 2000 4th Edition supplement details 33 fully illustrated service rifles from across Europe and North America. Complete with historical information and a total of nearly 70 different models and variants.

It also has fully optional rules for alternative magazine sizes, rifle grenades, new optical sights, night vision gear and much more. There is also information on Soviet and U.S. infantry organization, as well as German and Polish service rifles.

There are in total 30 well-researched pages that I hope you find useful and more than worth the price tag.

The new relevant rules and optional equipment can be found in the Centrefire Supplement Series Quick Reference (free download).

All new rules and new equipment are optional, and there is a separate weapons table with core rule stats downloadable with the supplement, if you are comfortable with the rules in the base game and do not want to add more complexity.

You can find the rest of the supplements in this series in the Centrefire Series Complete bundle. Important note: In buying the bundle you are only purchasing the already released volumes at a discounted price. Future volumes will become available to you with a discount, but are not included in the price you pay now.

Hi Nicholas.

Sorry for the late reply. I'm a complete Foundry VTT noob, but I will look into that and see if I can fit it into my roadmap.

For those who are waiting for the SMG volume, and who have been waiting for replies to their questions: I'm sorry this has taken some time, but we've been dealing with some serious illness in the family since July, and I haven't been able to dedicate much time to this project. I'm happy to report that things seem to be better now, and I have started working on the Submachine guns volume. I'm pretty sure I can get it done by early December.

To give you a little teaser; as of now the SMGs on my list are AEK-919K Kashtan, Beretta M12S, Colt 9mm SMG, FB PM-63 RAK, FB-PM-84 Glauberyt, FN P90, HK MP5 (including variants like the K and SD), HK MP7, IMI Uzi (with Mini and Micro variants), Ingram M10 and M11, KPIST m/45B (including S&W M76 and Hovea M/49), L2A3 and L34A1 Sterling, M1A1 Thompson, M3A1 Grease Gun (including OSS suppressed variant), MAT-49, OTs-02 Kiparis, PP-19 Bizon, PP-91 Kedr, PPS-42, PPSh-41, Samopal Model 25 (with different variants), Samopal Vz. 61 Scorpion, SITES Spectre M4, Steyr...See more

Concerning ROF in the weapon stats, I see a smaller number next to the normal number; e.g. L85A1 has a ROF 0f 4, but there is a smaller number 3 next to it.
I've noticed the same with the G41 (a smaller 3 or 4, next to the normal number.
I'm guessing some sort of note concerning the ROF of the weapon?

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I haven't been able to keep on top of things this fall, but I'm getting back to it.

The small hyperscript next to the ROF is an optional rule that I have introduced in this series of supplements, and is the Recoil rating of the weapon. If you fire the weapon unbraced (in other words you are prone or are resting the weapon on something like sandbags, a windowsill etc., or are using a bipod/tripod), you suffer a -1 modifier to ranged combat of you use more Ammo dice than the Recoil rating. Like all optional rules you are free to just ignore this small number and play without it.

It is my attempt at introducing recoil to the game without making it as convoluted as some of the earlier editions of the game. My experience with it is that it hardly comes up in actual play as my players are mostly concerned with conserving ammo, and only using one or two Ammo dice in most cases.

Update March 23rd 22: Version 1.10 is released. Should be available to all previous (and future) buyers.
In addition to general updates to the lay-out to match the Machine Guns of Europe and North America supplement, and give to some more space to new additions, the following have been added or corrected:
- Added stats for the L85A1 without SUSAT-scope.
- Added stats for the C8SFW-variant (L119A1).
- Added stats for the FN FAL SEMI-variant (L1A1/C1A1).
- Updated the base range and price for the FN FAL HBAR-variant.
- Corrected some errors on available alternative magazines for AK-based weapons in 5.45 Bloc and 7.62 Soviet. I had some 5.45B weapons listed with the 7.62S alternatives and vice-versa.
- Some corrected typos here and there.
- Added some clarifications to the AKMS stock.
- Corrected some errors in the G3 description. British units should now have their appropriate designations.
- Added some fluff to the G3 text pertaining to the G3KA4....See more

I kind of forgot to mention this here, but my second title in the Centrefire project, Machine Guns of Europe and North America, is also out. I'm currently working on a minor update to this title (Service Rifles) and a small compendium that summarizes the new rules, gear and ammunition tables from both titles for convenience when playing. Those should be out in early April, and then I'll be moving on to the sniper/marksman rifle title.

Hello Thaddeus. Sorry for the late response. This volume includes: AEK-971, AK-74, AKS-74U, AK-100, AKM, AN-94, AS Val, Beretta AR70/90, C7 & C8, CAR-15, Cetme L, FN FAL, FNC, HK33 & HK 53, HK G11, HK G3, HK G36, HK G41, IMI Galil, L85A1, M16A1 & M16A2, M4 & M4A1, Samopal Vz. 58, SIG SG 540, SIG SG 550, Steyr AUG, Valmet RK62, Wz. 1960 PMK, Wz. 1988 Tantal and Wz. 1989 Onyks. Most of the weapons also have sub-variants (folding stock, carbine versions, optical rails, heavy barrel versions etc).

The FN FAL is there, but I haven't specifically included the L1A1 as I was planning to add this in a later volume with surplus weapons, like the M14, M1 Garand, SKS and so forth. You could use the FN FAL stats with a semi-automatic rate of fire (2).

Thank you for your interest.

I can also add that my upcoming machine guns supplement includes the CETME Ameli, FN Minimi (M249), HK21-series, L86A1 LSW, RPD, RPK, RPK-74, Steyr AUG HBAR/LMG, Stoner 63 Commando (Mk 23 Mod 0), Ultimax 100 Mk 3, Valmet KK62, AA-52 NF-1, FN MAG (M240), M60 & M60E3, MG3 (and some other MG42 variants), PKM, UK vz.59, DShKM, KPV, M134 Minigun, M2HB, NSV and XM214 Microgun (Six-pak), if that is of interest to you.

I'm aiming for a release in mid-February. I have finished the illustrations and most of the text, currently reading corrections and double checking my research. I also need to do some final testing of some new equipment and rules but I hope to be able to finish it in three weeks time.

Thanks for listing them all! I was thinking of doing a supplement myself for slighltly less modern weapons from WW2 to WW1 along with some of the wackier weapons that would require a few special rules. So now I wont be afraid of going over content you already covered!

I downloaded it and I think it’s pretty good. Some of the optional rules and the weapon breakdowns differentiate between weapons in a way that is useful but without making anything overly complicated.

A question - for the INC rule - what would you suggest for pistol calibre rounds (would it still be 0). I think yes, but have you put any thought into this? Also for shotguns

Hi Simon. Thank you for your purchase and nice comment.

As you've probably have realised it makes no sense to give any weapon a positive INC-rating, as it would make it easier to pass the CUF-test than just being suppressed. So most pistol calibre weapons would have 0 Inc-rating. Using my current method for calculating INC, .45 ACP, 10mm Auto, .40 S&W, .357 Magnum and .44 Magnum would fall into the range of -1 INC. I use the bullets momentum (m*v) multiplied by its diameter and divide it by a constant (Based on the Taylor knock-out factor formula). It's not the most advanced method of calculating stopping power, but the science on stopping power is very whooly and contradictory. So I think this method is good enough for our purposes.

Using this method .45 ACP has an INC rating of 7.4, while a 7.62x39mm Soviet has a rating of 7.3, both well within the 5.0-9.9 range that I have defined as -1 INC. It is worth noting that using my calculations the .45 ACP would only have DAM: 1 CRIT:...See more

I appreciate your feedback Wayne, and I can understand that. It was difficult to set a price on this product. I had to consider that I had spent somewhere around 300-350 hours on drawing, compiling data and researching facts, and I hope the final product merits the price. Future supplements will be less expensive, probably in the 3-5 dollar range depending on how many weapons and how much research goes into them.

This is really a great supplement for the new version. The author put a lot of work into it and did make a few clever deductions, to flesh out elements like scopes and lasers. And I know what I am talking about, I wrote the conversion guide included in the rules.

Errata 03. sept. 2021: Unfortunatly two typos have passed my quality control. In the Ammunition Table on page 30, the Cartridge for 7.62 NATO should read 7.62x51mm and the Type should read Rimless Rifle, not 7.62x54mm and Rimless Intermediate. Stay tuned for more.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
