Sc-Fi Crates Collection 1

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Crates. From the distant past to the distant future, crates remain a constant, quintessential feature of cargo storage and transport. And, more important to some than their uses in trade and shipping, crates provide solid cover and consistent concealment through the ages. Of course, things can get quite interesting when crates contain cargo such as live alien specimens (of the flesh-rending, life-threatening variety), or volatile fissionables waiting to explode…. But, that’s what you can get for ducking behind a crate during a firefight!

Crates, in any incarnation, are solid staples of roleplaying adventures and miniature warfare alike, sought after by adventurers and warriors for their contents, or often just for the cover they can provide. The treasures or supplies they contain can range from valuable to vital to volatile, and few adventures, if any, can resist the urge to explore their contents. After all, who can resist the lure of the mystery box? With Joel Teply Productions Sci-Fi Crates collections, you can enhance your tabletop adventures with an abundance of beautifully rendered, easy-to-construct 3-dimensional science-fiction crates for players to open, rearrange, stack, break, steal, and reseal...or to just hide behind when the going gets rough. Each collection contains sets of strikingly rendered sci-fi containers along with detailed instructions for building them to include in your tabletop gaming experience, as well as free access to future updates and expansion packs.

Sci-fi Crates Collection I is designed to be built using standard 20 lb letter- or A4 paper and, though not required, can also be transferred onto cardstock if desired. The constructed crates are generally scaled for standard 1” (25-28mm) miniatures, but the larger crates are also compatible with 1½” (35mm) miniatures.

Why do I need more crates and boxes? A set like this is always useful especially as many of the crates in this set are not specifically Sci-Fi. You get a good range of sizes and variations at an excellent price. If you're new to card modelling, this se [...]

Some extremely nice props for any SF RPG. There are at least 15 different patterns with at least 3 different sizes each. They are very easy to assemble and their is even a complete sheet of assorted labels to add to each crate. The only drawback I had [...]

I was a little disappointed with this set. While the box styles are nice, all the dark ones print out muddy on all printer settings. That means about half of the set is useless. [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
