Great game all around. A great combo of 5E and "Old school" . Very nice art in both black & white and color art editions- I know- I have both. Some really fun and interesting things in Low Fantasy Gaming. THE ARTIFICER- The Artificer is a lot of fun with his weird, wacky deadly inventions- think the Warhammer Engineer kind of. Black powder weapons, breathing masks, corroding spray....more. THE CULTIST- The Cultist is the LFG Cleric- he gets abilities based on the God he worships- as it should be. A priestess of the Argona the Starmaiden is different than Graxus the Iron God. Also gives icons/symbols of the diety, tenets, benefits, etc. Asking for your Diety's blessings (spells ) too often could cause you some uncomfortable effects with Divine Rebuke, like aging, pain, or a mark of shame until you atone. MAGIC-USERS- Arcane magic also has a chance to go wrong or be miscast with The Dark and Dangerous Magic chart. Spells are renamed- Magic Missile is the Lash of Unerring Pain. Sleep is Insidious Slumber. Web is Strands of Ensnarement. It really gets your imagination going. ROGUE(Thief)- gets to choose from some low down dirty tricks like hidden blade, choking dust, or unseen whip, as well as his usual backstab and sneaky skills. The Barbarian, Bard, Fighter, Monk and Ranger are also there with some twists. Thats just a small part of LFG. I highly recommend it.

An absolute MUST have for Low Fantasy Gaming. More monsters, magic items, domains, and much much more. The artwork is great. Packed full of good stuff for any fantasy RPG, but made for the LFG system. If you dont have the Low Fantasy Gaming core book- go get it now! (and get this too)

Ran this as a one-shot and it went quite well though I modified the final encounter for time reasons, I think this is a good adventure for people trying out the system or wanting to add an interesting location to their campaign.

Great little adventure. I gave it 4 stars. To make it usable for more than a couple times by the same group - It could use a bigger menu for food and drinks and a table with a bunch more random patrons so you can vary them from night to night. Still very good.

This is a solid adventure for not-quite beginning characters. There are a couple of storylines that cross over, with plenty of room to add a twist or two of your own. The art is GREAT, the map is top notch, and the 'flavor' works well for a dark little side adventure.

At first I didn't know what to expect from a $2.50 adventure, but I'm blown away by the content it offers. It's well-organized, the fluff text is kept at a minimum without becoming a slog to read, the NPCs are detailed enough to work with but not restrictive, the story is just plain FUN! and the consequences are potentially far-reaching with enough included to continue and build a mini-campaign out of it.

The only criticism I have is that it references some tables from the LFG system for loot, but presents its own treasure table in case you don't have it. Overall this adventure gets a solid 5 out of 5 from me, I'm very happy with it!

Alright, now this kind of thing is amazing. Midlands was already A+, and the update to this map to include unlabelled versions is just another indication of Steve & friends' dedication to offering a great setting that the user can make her or his own. Kudos to John Stevenson, the creator of the map, and to Steve Grodzicki, the man behind the whole project. The map zooms in very, very well at 300 DPI, the art style holding up very well indeed. You can thus use your favorite image editor (mine is Paint.net) to grab detail areas to build up and still end up with something that looks good.

Great, great work, guys.

AND NOW, with the unlabelled versions, you have 100% of what you need to take this ridiculously useful sandbox and create a world out of it where Pickpocket Press has done the work, both rough and fine, and you keep or discard what you want.

Just another on-point, totally useful facet for a great sandbox campaign.

I owe Pickpocket Press reviews of Midlands Campaign Setting (another A+ work), Post-Midlands Adventure Frameworks (same) and of Low Fantasy Gaming (waiting on the new hardcover being offered for sale), and hope to get to those in short order.

While the setting itself is fascinating, it's more than worth it just for the generous amount of scenarios. As a newbie to running sandbox play, I feel far more equipped to have fun toys for my players to play with. So many possibilities!

An incredible bargain with a wealth of content.

A beautiful system to explore the gritty realism of a dark fantasy setting.

LFG is incredible- if you're looking for DnD with a little more stakes and grit, this is definitely for you. Like Game of Thrones injected into DnD, things like magic and crazy mythical beasts are still present, lower in numbers, and WAY more dangerous. Each encounter will keep you on the edge of you seat, as danger is bumped up due to the revamped combat system. The setting also allows for a much grittier world grounded in a little more reality than what most fantasy RPGs might be accustomed to. Death is a very present and active threat, and there are many monsters, creatures, and foes that you'll learn to run from rather than fight. (Don't worry, you can always come back later!) Level scaling is done so that you still grow and feel powerful; the only difference is that it feels much more earned, and you never quite feel invincible. There's also plenty of wiggle room for rules and character builds, so the possibilities are endless!

Our party loves LFG and probably wont be switching back to anything else any time soon. If you're looking to spice up your campaign, make every encounter a little more dangerous, and make the stakes even higher, this is definitely the way to go.

PCs paid to protect the leaders of the losing side of a gangland war; they need to stop assassination attempts.

Spoilers follow. Interesting premise, well executed. It is a nice twist to have three identical assassins, the players might expect (or find out about) two, but then the third could be an unpleasant surprise. A good framework if the players decide to stop the assassins: there are useful notes on how the assassins might react. However I would have liked to see a couple of other approaches discussed (with some supporting material): kill Udan, the paymaster of the assassins; switch sides and deliver Jester and allies to Udan themselves. The former should be difficult, but the PCs might pull a "Joker", and deliver "the body of Jester", and launch a surprise attack. In the latter, if the PCs cut a deal with the assassins, all may be well, but if the assassins are cheated of their fee they might not be happy.

Superior example of an evening at an inn with multiple plot strands in play. PCs are embroiled in some automatically; others need to be sought out; the remainder depend on which NPCs they encounter. There are random tables for: (i) rumours (including links to Battle for Rivertop, It Came from the Sewers, and Caverns of Melusiah); (ii) tavern events; (iii) special actions in any tavern brawl; (iv) what happens to drunk PCs. There are sufficient interesting contacts for multiple visits.

Highly recommended.

Simple quest to track down an errant drinker in a busy city before he does an "Oliver Reed". Would benefit from a timeline (with locations) for Lord Hargraves; in a fun scenario, the despotic overlord and forced meeting with his Inquisition, the Anointed, is a jarring note. (See "The Lost Lush" for a better integration of this idea into a political situation.)

Four stars for the innovative plot and hilarious mishaps that Lord Hargraves may suffer.

A chance to play Maximus as the Games come to an oppressive city: there is a gladiatorial tournament, chariot races and fights against exotic beasts. The first is well described; some extra details of notorious charioteers, possible patrons, and one or two special monsters would be welcome. Of the hooks, a contest for an inheritance where a PC needs to outperform their relatives is the most compelling. A table of random street encounters helps to convey the atmosphere of the city. At my signal, unleash hell! Recommended.
