Bloodshadows: A Worldbook for the D6 System
by Jim S. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 10/07/2006 00:00:00

I have a love hate relationship with Bloodshadows. On one hand, I think it's a great idea, but I have never quite been satisfied with the exicution of the game.

The d6 system is vastly superior to the old Master Book system, so this new edition has that going for it. But over all, I still felt like this was only half a game.<br><br> <b>LIKED</b>: Very cool idea.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: Honestly, it just isn't Noir enough, as much as it tries.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Acceptable<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Disappointed<br>

D6 Fantasy
by Timothy B. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 07/03/2006 00:00:00

This is a large product with much interesting material. It is entirely D6 based (hence the name!) and adapts WEG's Star Wars RPG (for those old enough to remember it) to a fantasy environment. Character creation is via templates or point-based system. Combat is simple, magic/miracles work in a logical way (especially the spell/miracle development rules), and character advancement is pain-free. Characters (and monsters) can also be created with advantages (which cost points) and disadvantages (which gain you points). Fate points allow characters to do the heroic thing at the right time (remember Force Points?) and unspent character points can be used to add dice to rolls for the current task. Everything hinges around an easy to understand difficulty number, the aim being to score equal to or higher than this. Two methods of tracking damage are included. A good, clean system.<br><br> <b>LIKED</b>: Mostly very simple, adaptable and rules light, meaning that players can concentrate on the fun.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: Alternate damage systems slightly confusing (and the concept of wound levels not really explained, but deducible). Virtually every page has background image, making printout slow and ink heavy!<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Excellent<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Very Satisfied<br>

Interesting and 'dirty' setting for playing d6 space opera. I liked the setting and may well run it, albeit with Savage Worlds.<br><br> <b>LIKED</b>: Detailed enough and yet open enough to elaborate on. Well focussed to create game fun.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: Some of the fonts don't print when you print 2 to a page, especially headings.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Acceptable<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Satisfied<br>

Great two fisted fun in the style of Doc Savage or Bulldog Drummond. However all is here to also deliver it in the style of Hong Kong Action Theatre or Stephen Seagull. (sic)

Good simple systems explained well and able to model everything you want.

<br><br><b>LIKED</b>: Well presented an clear to read.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Very Good<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Very Satisfied<br>

Moderately amusing, though not terribly evocative. The fact that it LOOKS like a MasterBook supplement doesn't help.

A great generic RPG system with a rules set that has been around for a long time. This pdf isn't just a simple rewrite of the horrible d6 rulebook that came out in the mid-1990s, instead, this is a combination of the best features from a variety of WEG's d6 games. For those who haven't ever used d6, its a very easy to learn dice-pool system that's fast paced and fun to play. Unlike d20 games, you can make characters in about 5 to 10 minutes. Layout is suitable for printing, but nothing special. There are several (but not a lot) of line art drawings throughout the book.

Storm Knights: Book One of the Possibilities Wars
by Daniel M. Date Added: 11/30/2002 00:00:00

I have the original paper-back printing and enjoyed the story. This is only book 1 of 3 and you will be left hanging if the other 2 aren't soon provided. The triligy provides a good feel for the RPG - Torg.

Torg is a fun game with infinite possibilities. It mixes all of the major gaming themes: fantasy, horror, techno, modern, primitive, pulp heroes, etc. And allows a GM to use them all or just the ones he/she wants.

It's not a D20 based game, it was out way before that open gaming concept. But the rules are not hard to follow.
