It gets the job done but could use some improvements and I don't recommend a DM running DotMM just using these without checking them and making changes
[I complain at the start of this review and then say nice things at the end]
There are things in the descriptions that the players would have no way of knowing, one example being (warning spoilers) on Level 1, room 27 the Demi-plane description tells the players that the Halaster they are seeing is a simulacrum!? How on earth would the player characters be able to know this and it could cause real problems if a DM just reads these aloud without checking!
Also, I'm not even halfway through the descriptions for the first level and I must have seen the word "testament" used at least 10 times already. I understand that you want to make the descripitons interesting and often have to discuss things that hint at past events but using it in every. single. description. is driving me mad and will be noticed by the players.
I also get the impression these were made using some form of AI (the cover clearly being AI generated supports this) due to some of the descriptions using very similar wording with the defining details swapped out (ie testament). However, if the person who created this was just having to re-use terms because they had so many to get through then I get why you did this but it does become obvious pretty quick to both the DM and the players.
[Nice things V see I said I would]
HOWEVER.
This is something DotMM doesn't come with at all and for a mega-campaign with a million rooms that all very unique and definitley need describing to the players it is useful. As a DM I personally don't want to have to re-read the DM-only contents of the room mid-session while my players wait on me, and have to figure out what the players can and can't know/see when they enter it. My worry would be that I may give away hidden details and at the very least I wouldn't be able to make the description evocative or flow smoothly. Instead it would come out like a list of instructions of what is in the room which would really ruin the immersion.
Therefore, I do encourage the purchase of this Room Description pdf as it is the only one of its kind currently. In truth I highly doubt anyone will try to make a competitor to this (there still is currently only one companion guide for the entire of DotMM to my knowledge) but be weary of the devils bargain here that you will need to go over these and edit as needed. I personally don't have a massive problem with this as it allows me to go over the rooms one final time before a session to really get them in my recent memory but the repetition and testament stuff is driving me a little mad ironically.
