The PCs (fifth graders and second graders in two different adventures) truly enjoyed me yelling at them "You can't shoot someone with a bow and arrow in a bar fight! HAVEN'T YOU EVER BEEN IN A BAR FIGHT?!?"

Smooth runs, easy gameplay, nice change of pace after eight months (!) of saving the world. Now the fifth grade group is playing Goatball this week.

I ran this back in October in two hour bites for a group of kids (5th, 6th graders) in my sons' book club. They freakin loved it. It gave one of them nightmares and the smartest one was working on the puzzles during the week.

We also had a fun switch up that the paladin decided that he would feel morally obligated to kill the ghosts so the one who is usually the uptight "don't do that one" was murder hoboing his way through the adventure before finally the pc's teamed up on him to put him down (reversed later with a wish in the tarot deck).

I had to nerf some of the puzzle challenges for them, but overall a hugely succesful adventure.

So I ran this and a Great Upheaval for my sons' book club as an "intro to DnD" for two different groups of five kids. I think "Great Upheaval" worked a little better for the kids, but this is a very solid group of adventures. Also the world building between this and some other adventures helped me move those five kids through other adventures (Shadows Over the Moonsea, eventually Tyranny in Phlan) so that they felt as though their charecters were charecters in books they were reading which was kind of cool.

Very solid. Would reccomend for new players.

I ran this for a group of 10-11 year olds a couple of months back as their intro adventure and it worked well. The plot was easy to follow and was just "fantasy enough" for a group of kids familiar with Harry Potter but not DnD to start to understand the world and the mechanics. Starting with goblins and wargs and moving into some more complex monsters and NPC's was great. If I ever have to run an adventure for new kids again, this will be my go-to. Perfect for new young players.

I ran this adventure for nine 5th and 6th graders that I've been zoom dm'ing since July (it's also my son's book club). They loved it, and I mean LOVED it. I prepared a book of npc's for the kids ahead of time and they assumed that one of the NPC's was the villain so the deceiver just offed the NPC's one by one. When she first killed one of the actual players, there was a shocked silence and about a half hour later she managed to lock the remaining charecters in the kitchen and crashed the ship.

The kids were so into it, I had to write an email going through round by round how me and the deceiver offed everyone and they were still talking about it a week later. From pretty much the moment I showed the cover to my kids' to the moment the deceiver crashed the ship into the ground, it was probably the most fun we had and now my adult friends who play a much more serious version of DnD are going to get this to run too.

Great job. Just enough structure to keep the game together with a enough space for a good dm and inventive decieiver to play with the rest of the players.
