Part barbaric prose, part realist material, the Pure is an impressive installment. It makes the Pure a separate and unique entity very well, although the issue of rape and the vulgar use of profanity to define the tribe in Chapter 1, may be very off-putting. It certainly was for me and there were certain other references in the book that were needlessly unpleasant. This is a shame, because the rest of the book is very compelling. The art is as succulent and awe inspiring as ever and the Pure are very well defined and plausible in terms of both their natures and their goals.

I would have certainly awarded this book a five star rating, hadn't it been for the bouts of bad taste contained within. White Wolf, unfortunately, has always suffered from a tendency to lean on the cruel and sadistic. The Pure could have done without both and even the art suffers from it in parts. However, the whole outweighs the sum of its parts and this piece of literature is an admirable title that ought to find its way into your library. It'll help add flavor and diversity to your stories. Just skip the parts on sexual and physical abuse and you'll be drawn deeply into the text.

Good, solid book and the first roleplay book in a long time that I've been unable to put down. Brings the pure to life and gives a weath of information about what drives them.

I ordered a printed copy of the book, and the quaity was excellent. If you're a forsaken fan, this is a must-have.

A very solid book giving a very complete and generally unbiased perspective on the signature 'villains' for Werewolf: The Forsaken. Happily, the book doesn't make any special effort to make the Pure more humane - they remain a fairly viscious bunch - but the motivations and beliefs of each of the three tribes are explored with sufficient depth to make a solid counterpoint to the Forsaken. Ample game play additions (lodges, gifts and the like) balance out the narrative nuggets, and the addition of Santa Fe as a 'new' setting is a welcome (if unexpected) bonus. Light cannot be defined without a countering darkness, and this book does a fine job of shading in the details of Pure culture & mentality. Excellent resource for storytellers and - potentially - players alike.

Excellent sourcebook on the other more savage faction of werewolves which could be termed as the villains though not really totally bad, just bad for humanity that is.

This book is an excellent resource for any STs or players wishing to flesh out Pure werewolves.

The write-ups of the three Pure tribes expand upon what info was in the core WtF book, and turn the Pure into true adversaries instead of cardboard cutouts. They are no longer simply Evil - they have reasons for doing what they do, and are justified (in their own minds at least).

The Gifts and Rites presented are quite unique and add to the dark mystery that is the Pure tribes.
