Depending on the setting Summoning can be a very personal thing and Core SWADE doesn't (and really shouldn't) provide you with the options to tailor your summons. Trappings of course are always an option, but they still have a certain mechanical threshold they can't go beyond.

Summoner's Circle solves that handily and really breaks down how and why everything is priced the way it is. A lot of thought went into the summons fitting Savage Worlds.

For people who want such a high level of customization this is perfect. Just make sure you build your companion and discuss what it can do with your Storyteller ahead of time.

A really nice product. There's a lot of thought and imagination in this 'deep dive' into what really amounts to one power in SWADE. It's really impressive that Dylan dreamed up this much material. Quite honestly, I'm both jealous of him and just a little afraid.

Seriously, get this product. It can be used in just about any setting that has magic, from fantasy to scienct fiction, (why can't they be robots?).

Well worth the money.

Really useful to create a real summoner character.

I don't know how many times I have been looking through the powers to find something cool to annoy my players with and when I get to the Summon Ally Power and think: "I need a way to balance this". This supplement tries to address exactly that.

As a GM it allows you to swap things out and make foes that are much better suited the story you want to tell. For example I made Lamashtu that could summon a wolf, a donkey and a reed boat. And as a player it gives you a way to really use your fantasy and summon some awesome stuff. And it gives a framework to work with together with your GM and not use days arguing over Traits and Edges and still ending up with a gimpy reskin of the construct.

Furthermore this does a great job of analyzing the Summon Ally Power in relation to all other aspects of the game. It shines light on cool synergies even before introducing a single line of new rules.

I also want to say that by fiddling around I have even plugged this into the Shape Change Power and Beast Master Edge.

Excellent article. Expands around the Summon Ally power and provide LOTS of nice and creative idea around it, for all kind of settings : Cultist summoning tentacles ? Druid summoning animals ? Fire wizard summoning Fire elementals ? Scientist teleporting dinosaurs out of his personnal zoo ? Psionic give forms to your ennemy fears ? You can do it.

Only point where I would differ is that Summon Ally is fixed to a single ally choice per rank, while I thik the "With the GM’s approval, the player may swap abilities." and "power modifiers like fly, light, and such" are crying for multiple possible summons within the same trapping (Animal summoner ? Novice could be a cat, a badger, a snake or a crow, and you couldn't use "light" modifier. Elemental summoner ? Could have earth, ice, water, ... elements, your "light" modifier would have to be fire, and "fly" would have to be Air. and so on). But that's personnal taste.

Article is easy to read, nice layout, gives many examples, sparks many ideas. near 40 pages that deserve their price !

This is crazy useful! It details and explains the mechanics of SWADE Core Summon Ally, then goes to break it down to allow GMs and players to easily make their own allies, plus providing additional Edges and Hindrances for summon-centric characters. Examples of new allies of all Ranks, and sample characters from Seasoned to Legendary make it a great quick reference and help at the table. The examples and sample characters touch multiple genres, from Fantasy and Horror over Modern to SciFi. Design choices are explained to help DIY GMs understand the process even better. After getting this, summoning will never be the same at your tables.

Fantastic product! It's fun to read and the creatures and summoners are super imaginative, and if there are any disagreements as to creature stats you can just make new ones since the framework for all of that is clear as day. There are a few other things I would have loved to see in this kind of product—some of the new Edges introduced feel like they could work very well as point cost modifiers to creatures instead, and talking about using powers aside from summon ally with "summoned ally" Trappings could have been interesting (I had a character a while back whose "confusion" power was briefly summoning the ghosts of his ancestors to throw enemies off their game, for example)—but almost everything that is in the document is a win.

One or two passages were a little confusing and I needed to read them once or twice to parse the information properly (though to be fair I read through the product at 1 AM), but that could very well be taken care of in updates—systemically, everything looks like it works just about perfectly as-is. Otherwise, the formatting is clean and there's a lot of fun art assets to help break up the huge amount of content.

Well worth the asking price; this is definitely one to add to the collection.
