The Echoes of Heaven/The Throne of God (OGL Version)
by Tolga
Publisher: Final Redoubt Press
Date Added: 04/13/2024 13:02:15
pixel_trans.gif The Echoes of Heaven/The Throne of God (OGL Version) It is well written campaign adventure series. But, there is one valid protest I must report for all others who contemplate investing as much as I did into this game. BUYERS, BEWARE! All, I mean ALL the maps in this campaign series are only available to open in Campaign Cartographer Pro software, which MUST BE PURCHASED SEPARATELY!!! It is coined at a hefty $45 price Tage, and there are no, I repeat NO DISCOUNTS or COUPONS offered by Final Redoubt corporation. This necessary extra purchase for optimal play experience is not disclosed anywhere on their product description. ...

Hirelings: A Fantasy Heist RPG
by Sheldon
Publisher: Michael Augusteijn
Date Added: 04/12/2024 22:33:21
pixel_trans.gif Hirelings: A Fantasy Heist RPG My group just played this for the first time to take a short break in between major campaigns. Especially for a rulebook that's only 28 pages long, this is a surprisingly robust little game. Even though character creation seems somewhat rigid at first, you realize that there's still a great deal of leeway to customize your character, and the character creation is really quick and easy, making it a good pickup game. A very enjoyable experience and I highly recommend it.

pixel_trans.gif Hirelings: A Fantasy Heist RPG This is a great game system, it is light on rules, fun, and easy to set up. I enjoyed quickly getting my character up and going using some of the tables. I liked playing a game even lighter than a D&D starter set but not as light as Risus. This is great if you want to introduce someone to roleplaying beyond a straight-up theatre of the mind (which I did initially with my son) but not go all the way to D&D. It also works well for experienced players looking for a fun campaign to play in between other full-length affairs....

pixel_trans.gif The Dragon of Wantley| Roll20 VTT I love the way the landing page is implemented. It has all of the handouts in the background that you can reveal as your group encounters them, but it never looks like anything is missing. It looks awesome from the outset.

Warlord Ascendant
by Samuli
Publisher: Blackoath Entertainment
Date Added: 04/12/2024 14:57:50
pixel_trans.gif Warlord Ascendant Pros: Good amount of warband types, command actions, and random events. Lots of combat maneuvers and feats for improving your soldiers. The Management Phase between combats runs swiftly. The basic combat routine is familiar for anyone who has played DnD or a derivative. The artwork is really impressive for this affordable a game. And yes, the game is really cheap. Cons: Some rule concepts are left ambiguous because the rulebook doesn't explain them well enough (e.g. the Morale check and what happens when you fail it, or who can use combat maneuvers). The combat doesn't flow smoothly until you have memorized the meaning of several keywords (e.g. the club is a Simple(1) Bludgeoning weapon -- two keywords there ). Until that it's a lot of page-flipping. Some of these keywords are condition-specific which makes internalizing them difficult (e.g. the Piercing weapons give +2 to damage IF the attacker is acting before the defender). In the end I found the detail level with the keywords too...

ALIEN RPG Building Better Worlds
by Jonathan
Publisher: Free League Publishing
Date Added: 04/12/2024 12:36:39
pixel_trans.gif ALIEN RPG Building Better Worlds Building Better Worlds is jam-packed with goodies for both players and Game Mothers with the same top-notch production values you've come to expect from Free League. The player's info only slightly expands the character options, however, the sandbox exploration campaign is excellent, and it's a welcome alternative for those GMs looking for scenarios that focus more on the exploration of new worlds. My detailed review discussing each chapter can be found here: https://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/19/19191.phtml ...

CHROMATIC SHADOWS COMPANION
by Rick H.
Publisher: Matrix Ghost Games
Date Added: 04/12/2024 09:39:57
pixel_trans.gif CHROMATIC SHADOWS COMPANION I love Chromatic Shadows so getting this companion was a no brainer. The companion offers more detail, more mechanics, more character building stuff, and a lot more world building info. I found the section on running missions very helpful. Also, I'm looking forward to using the more detailed rules and mechanics involving vehicle chases and stunts. The sections on outside adversaries, factions, and occult assets help to further flesh out the strange world in which this all takes place. Another great book! My only complaint is that there isn't a printed version yet. I am an old school, analog, pen and paper kind of guy and I find it more satisfying to navigate a physical book than a pdf. Awesome content though....

Chromatic Shadows Basic Rules
by Rick H.
Publisher: Matrix Ghost Games
Date Added: 04/12/2024 09:36:09
pixel_trans.gif Chromatic Shadows Basic Rules I think many RPG lovers from my generation can relate to this experience: I loved the world and mood of Shadowrun but the system was too clunky to make it worth playing long term. If you can relate, then buy this book. Chromatic Shadows is like a sleeker Shadowrun but with an emphasis on weird, eldritch elements that remind me of the Cthulhu Mythos and Hellboy/BPRD. It’s a very enjoyable world to play in. The cyberpunk atmosphere is thick, like you’re operating in the world of Neuromancer. The characters and locations are stylish. This heightens the sensory experience of mission play, while the well thought out mechanics allow you immerse yourself in the story without getting bogged down. This is a well-crafted bit of game design. I recommend this to all lovers of weird cyberpunk. ...

RESURRECTON CITY
by Rick H.
Publisher: Matrix Ghost Games
Date Added: 04/12/2024 09:31:45
pixel_trans.gif RESURRECTON CITY I'm a big fan of cyberpunk and sci-fi oriented entertainment, but I'm also a fan of secret societies, magic and the occult in stories. This adventure somehow feeds both needs while feeling completely natural. The goals are pretty straightforward and the ending of the mission is very satisfying. Like defeating Mother Brain in Metroid satisfying. Highly recommend!
